The Match Report™ · Quarterly

Know what businesses are actually selling for — before you buy, sell, or refer.

Every quarter I break down the closed-deal data: median prices, multiples by industry, what's hot, who's buying, and what it means for you. No fluff. No listings spam. Just the numbers and what to do with them.

What's inside

The snapshot most owners never see until it's too late.

Only 14% of sellers have ever had a professional valuation. A third have no idea what they're worth. The Match Report closes that gap, one quarter at a time.

01

What sold, and for how much

Median sale prices, revenue, and cash flow across service, retail, manufacturing, and restaurants — with the year-over-year moves that matter.

02

Multiples by industry

Which categories are pulling the strongest cash-flow multiples right now — laundromats, HVAC, auto repair, ecommerce, dental, and more.

03

Who's buying, who's selling

Corporate refugees, search funds, retiring owners, SBA trends, and the seller-financing gap nobody wants to talk about.

04

What's popular

The recession-resistant, recurring-revenue businesses buyers are chasing — and the categories where buyers now have the leverage.

05

The big-money deals

What private equity is paying at the top of the market, and what that does (and doesn't) mean for a single-location business.

06

What it means for you

Plain-English takeaways for buyers, owners, and referral partners. What to do this quarter, not someday.

Kacy Carlsen, The Business Matchmaker
Who's behind it

I've bought, built, and sold businesses for 25+ years. Now I match them.

I'm Kacy Carlsen, The Business Matchmaker. I built a web-hosting company to seven figures and sold it, ran a roller rink through a recession, and have started and exited more businesses than I can fit on this page. I still operate businesses today.

That's why I read the market data differently. I'm not looking for the biggest check. I'm looking for the right fit — the business that fits the life a buyer wants, and the buyer who can carry on what an owner built.

The Match Report is how I share what I'm seeing. It's the same data I use with my own clients.
